Great piece of software; by the way one of Amazon’s best sellers. Recommended!

I used to use a few different “box” versions of tax prep software and they were ok, though every time I had to re-do all my basic information each year. As this is the online version of TurboTax, I have no worries on losing my data or finding my tax returns from previous years…it’s all saved on their site. And the best part is, you don’t pay until you’re ready to file. And if I can accomplish this at no charge, that would make tax day just a bit easier this year. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’ve used Turbo Tax for awhile now – I tried using another competitor a few years ago and was disappointed in it. Love that Turobox Tax now allows you to store on the internet so I don’t have to worry about lost tax returns.

I am entering for the premier version as I own stocks.

I keep all my tax docs in a pile until I’m ready to start on my taxes. And I use turbotax online. It’s very easy to use. They ask you questions to help you fill out your taxes. Like do you own a home? If yes then they ask you more about that.

And I live your site. Always looking for personal finance tips. And I just bought my first house. ๐Ÿ™‚

I like your site. darn iPhone autocorrect. Lol. But I live it too.

@Jason,
haha, Thanks! Am glad you live this site. That’s the best compliment ever. ๐Ÿ™‚

I very much enjoy the convenience of having last years information uploaded automatically. The TurboTax site is very user friendly and the Q&A has helped me solve numerous tax questions. Since using TurboTax I’ve never felt I needed to speak to a tax specialist. The program does that work for me.

I definitely need it to do my taxes.

I use online tax prep services the most. My technique is to use several of the big-name tax online services and input all my tax information. I compare which one will provide with the largest tax return for me and I then go ahead and use that service to e-file my taxes. Since I’ve done this in the past, all my information have been saved from previous years and will just carry-over to the current tax year which makes this process a whole lot smoother. I hope my technique helps anyone trying to maximize their returns!

I used Tax Act for free last year. It doesn’t seem like anyone is offering free filing this year except for basic. We have a business, so basic won’t work. I am trying to figure out which online prep site is the best value. Thanks for the info.

I’ve used software to do my taxes since 1998. I’ve tried several others but Turbo Tax is always the one I go back to. I haven’t bought mine yet this year – winning would get me going on my taxes for this year.

Revanche February 18, 2012 at 9:55 pm

I’m actually dreading taxes this year as this is the first year of married taxes and I don’t know how messy they’ll be that I think software will be crucial to maintaining my sanity. I used H&R Block for my own last year and it was actually relatively doable – my fingers are crossed that TurboTax will save me from an accountant and tearing my hair out for one more year between two jobs, side income and a house! ๐Ÿ˜‰

I keep a large envelope in my filing cabinet. Anything I think may be needed for taxes for the year, I put it right in the envelope so I am collecting things throughout the year.

Janet February 19, 2012 at 9:18 pm

I start a tax folder at the beginning of the year and make sure anything relevant goes into it, particularly deductions and the vehicle license fee. When it comes time to doing taxes, it’s all right there
